The Etobicoke Guardian has launched the second annual Urban Hero Awards to recognize those that have made a significant impact in our local community. Urban Heroes come in all shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds and professions. They are our teachers, students, principals, school staff, mentors, volunteers, leaders, innovators, protectors and caregivers. They may be average citizens, but their actions inspire, their words motivate, and their characters emanate compassion and goodwill.

Nominations in the categories of Education, Community, Sports, Health & Sciences, Environment, Arts & Culture will be accepted until April 2, 2010.
